By: Steve Merril Below is a free MLB play with analysis for Tuesday night: RAYS at TIGERS (+105) – 7:05 pm ET #917 Not an official play, but I would rate Tampa Bay as a light lean tonight. Jeremy Hellickson makes his second career start as the Rays continue their series with the Tigers on Tuesday night. Hellickson made a great first impression defeating the Twins on August 2nd. In that game, he gave up just two runs and three hits in seven innings of work. The righty struck out six while walking only two. Detroit has lost 5 of their last 6 games. The Tigers are 2-5 on their current homestand which wraps up with the Rays. Over their last eight games, the Tigers are hitting close to .240 as a team. Detroit’s Max Scherzer took a loss at the hands of the Rays on July 26th in Tampa. He gave up four runs and two hits in 5.7 innings of work with the biggest problem being his four walks. The Tigers have lost his last three starts since Scherzer has only averaged 6.3 innings per outing. The Rays bats awakened a bit last night after scoring six runs against Armando Galarraga and company. Even with all of the struggling that they've done, Tampa Bay is still 34-21 on the road while averaging 5.6 runs per game. The Rays have the pitching, offense, and bullpen edge in this game tonight.
